BBC News | Study reveals ‘postcode prisoners’
Apparently an academic study has come up with the profound conclusion that people from so-called ‘underprivileged’ council wards are more likely to end up in prison. No doubt the recent plan for social discrimination in determining fines will now be applied to jail sentences as well- “you slashed an old woman for her 14 quid pension, but who gives a f**k, you are from an ‘underprivileged’ area and generally vote Labour, so we’ll let you off”. What this article fails to mention is the fact that criminals spend most of their time either terrorising people or in jail, and therefore do not have steady jobs. The lack of job= lack of money= has to live in a slum. It is not the poverty that caused the criminal behaviour, it is the other way around (and rightly so).
