Playlouder- the chance we’ve been waiting for

According to Guardian Unlimited, a new ISP (Playlouder) has been launched with a unique concept- you pay the £26/month broadband subscription, and then you can share as much music as you want (with other playlouder subscribers) at no extra charge.

So what’s the catch? None really, no taxpayer-funded police busting down your door on the industry’s behalf, no high-priced lawyers bullying you into a £3000 settlement. They have agreed a licensing deal with SonyBMG, (and are in talks with the other big labels) that, in combination with ‘digital fingerprinting’ (identifying what files are being traded and in what numbers) allows Playlouder to distribute royalties to the appropriate artists/labels. How about that folks?
