Bad Behaviour reinstated
For bandwidth reasons (my site’s bandwidth usage has jumped significantly over the past month or two) I’ve reinstated the Bad Behaviour plugin. In a nutshell it uses predefined rules to block spambots, saving bandwidth as a result. There shouldn’t be any ‘false positives’ and in fact (due to the way the filtering is done) if you are able to view this page (on the site, obviously not on the Feedburner feed) then you’re fine. If not, drop me a line.

Of course you realise why your traffic is so high don’t you? It’s because you’re running WordPress - and with that you get a huge amount of comment spam, referrer spam and trackback spam. Pick a less used blogging software and the bad guys will leave you alone.

I’m aware of this, but unfortunately Textpattern (the only halfway decent alternative to Wordpress) doesn’t support Technorati tagging, so I’m stuck with Wordpress for now. Hopefully Bad Behaviour will mitigate some of the spam bandiwdth usage though.

David, Stuck with WordPress?
Or are U blessed with WordPress?

That is true - Wordpress certainly has more features than any other blogging system. However many of these (the annoying WYSIWYG editor, the frame-using bloated Preview function) are a hindrance rather than a help - and I was merely stating that the lack of Technorati Tagging in Textpattern prevents me from switching even if I wanted to.
