Battlefield Series Wiki

Monday, April 3rd, 2006

Well, this morning I got the necessary permissions (admin and bureaucrat) to relaunch the Battlefield Series Wiki on what used to be called Wikicities, but has recently been renamed to Wikia (it’s an ad-supported wiki hosting service run by Jimmy Wales, the guy who runs the [separate] Wikimedia Foundation). If any of you Battlefield fans out there feel like writing some pages then feel free to join in.

Starforce saga goes on

Saturday, April 1st, 2006

Just when you thought StarForce couldn’t become even more ridiculous, the company has set up a fake security research website to pretend that their ‘software’ is safe to use have installed on your computer without your knowledge or consent. Is this simply paranoia? (many of the groups that say Microsoft software is secure are accused of being M$ fronts, rather than simply wrong!) Well, er… no. The domain name resolves (in a WHOIS query) to the same IP address as the actual officially acknowledged Starforce domain. If that press release wasn’t from two days ago, you would almost think it was an April Fools joke.
