Lego Star Wars II
Many of you (especially those of you who play PC games) will know that Star Wars tie-in games are generally, well, a bit crap (Force Commander was a disgrace to the RTS genre). That can’t be said for the Lego Star Wars games, and the new one is better simply because it is based on the original trilogy rather than the new toy adverts films. The vehicle levels are good fun, though impossible to get a decent score on, some of the bosses cheat, but on the whole it is a good game with very few obvious bugs. Even better is that the PS2 and PC versions can be had for about £17.99, which is not bad at all.

I’d disagree about Star Wars games being a bit crap. Most are quite good! The X-Wing Games, Knights of The old republic, Jedi Outcast etc. there’s a lot of good Star Wars Games out there!
Anyway. Lego Star Wars II is brilliant, IF (and this is a big if) your lucky. The PC version is dogged with bugs. Just Vist Lucasarts technical forums to see what I mean. The main bug is (or was as there is a fix now) and installation bug on newer PCs. there are still lots of other bugs and there are many people complaining this is more of a Beta game rather than a finnished game. This however is not the case with the console version of the Game (I have heard of problems with the DS however).
If you own a PS2 then I wholeheartedly recommend this game to you. It really is cheap and extrememly chearfull compared to some top price titles. It also has lots of replay value!
If however your considering buying it for the PC, do not do so unless you feel lucky or your computer savy. Most problems are solvable if you know what you check Lucasarts forums (Its faster than waiting for Lucasarts themselves to resolve it). If your a total PC novice it could cause you a major headache!

From what you’ve said the game is a bit of a ‘bodge job’. They made it for the PS2 and 360, then just ported the console version to the PC, and ported it badly.
The DS also sounds like what has happened to that console occasionally - the game is made for the PSP and then ported to the less-powerful DS hardware. The same was done to Worms Open Warfare which, though a good game on the DS, suffers from serious framerate-stuttering problems due to the badly done PSP port.

Played it last night and loved the character customisation but I am intrigued with how you get into one particular room where the door shuts before you can get to it. It is on the very first level, Secret Plans (or whatever it’s called) and it is at the end of the corridor to the right, when you leave the first room. It has a black door and it seems to shimmer, though on Free Play as a Jedi, a force move doesn’t open it.

I can’t recall the exact door you are talking about, but my two initial thoughts are that it’s either:
a) Openable only with Sith power (create a custom character with a red lightsaber)
b) Destroyable with a Bounty Hunter thermal detonator (there’s an unlock code out there for Boba Fett)
